 </div></div><div class="edit">Catherine walked into the kitchen after finishing her shift at Glenview Health Care.&nbsp; Lying on the table was a letter addressed to her from Murray State University.&nbsp; Catherine immediately recalled the hours of studying for her Advanced Placement courses and the numerous times she had taken the ACT to improve her composite score.&nbsp; Flashbacks of late nights reading papers, Saturdays spent practicing her writing skills, and long days of working ran through her head.&nbsp; Catherine applied to Murray State University with dreams of completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.&nbsp; Catherine knew her family would appreciate any scholarships to help with her college tuition.&nbsp; Catherine took full advantage of the High Initiative Program, hoping her coursework and ACT score would be enough to get a college scholarship.Catherine’s story is only one that has been influenced by the Glasgow Independent Schools Education Foundation.&nbsp; The High Performance Initiative, a grant funded by the GIS Education Foundation, allows Glasgow High School students to take Advanced Placement exams, the ACT, and the PSAT free of charge.&nbsp; By taking these exams, students have the potential to earn millions of dollars in college scholarships. Last year through the High Performance Initiative grant, Glasgow High School seniors earned more than&nbsp;$3.4 million dollars&nbsp;in scholarships.&nbsp; Catherine improved her ACT score by 4 points…enough to receive a Provost Academic Scholarship and acceptance into the Murray State University Honors College.&nbsp;The 2015 spring commencement marks the&nbsp;100th&nbsp;year anniversary&nbsp;of students graduating from Glasgow Independent Schools.&nbsp; For 100 years, Glasgow Independent Schools have set the benchmark for academic excellence.&nbsp; This year alone, the Glasgow High School Academic Team was state champions in the Governor’s Cup Quick Recall Competition; the Glasgow Middle School Academic Team was state runner’s-up in the Governor’s Cup Future Problem Solving Competition; the Highland Elementary Academic Team was Governor’s Cup Regional Champions; and the South Green Beta Club was Kentucky Jr Beta state runners-up in Group Talent.&nbsp; The Covey Foundation named South Green one of nine Lighthouse Schools in Kentucky, while Highland Elementary started their journey to become a Lighthouse School.&nbsp; Furthermore, Glasgow High School&nbsp;ranked 12th&nbsp;out of 228 high schools&nbsp;in the state of Kentucky.Next year, Glasgow Independent Schools will continue the tradition of academic excellence by offering&nbsp;one of the state’s first internship programs&nbsp;for students in their Engineering and Biomedical Sciences programs.&nbsp; Additionally, Glasgow Independent Schools, through a grant bequeathed by the GIS Education Foundation, will become&nbsp;one of the first districts in the state to offer STEM&nbsp;(science, technology, engineering, and math) curriculum K-12th&nbsp;grade.&nbsp; For the past 100 years, Glasgow Independent Schools has been an innovative leader in education.&nbsp; Our goal is to ensure that for the next 100 years, our students continue to expand our legacy.Will you help guarantee that the academic excellence of Glasgow Independent Schools and stories like Catherine’s continue for the next century?&nbsp; Join us in our&nbsp;$100 for 100 Years&nbsp;capital campaign.&nbsp; Your $100 gift to the GIS Education Foundation 501(c)(3) means our students will receive academic opportunities through classroom grants and scholarships given by the GIS Education Foundation—all thanks to you.&nbsp; To show our appreciation of your investment in Glasgow Independent Schools, gifts of $100 or more will be recognized during the 100th&nbsp;Graduation Celebration Ceremonies.You have the power to&nbsp;keep the tradition of excellence alive in Glasgow Independent Schools.&nbsp;Please find the enclosed letter of investment and return it to the Glasgow Independent Schools Central Office.&nbsp; On behalf of the over 2,100 students attending Glasgow Independent Schools, we thank you for support.<a href="https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Qg8WIPahTvxk5KZRoRnClu1F1S_xe890" target="_blank">Click here for your $100 for 100 Years donation form.</a></div>
