QUICK LINKS
DECK THE LIBRARY
During the month of December, students at South Green can help Mrs. Johnson deck the library.  From now until December 16, whenever students read a book they can visit the library to write their name and the title of the book they read on a paper slip.  Each paper slip will become a link on a paper chain that adorns the shelves in the library.  The purpose of the paper chain is to help students set goals and visualize their progress toward their goals.  An original goal of 500 books read by the student body before December 16th was set.  Mrs. Johnson says that in just under 2 days nearly 150 paper slips had been linked--that equals almost 150 books, so students will soon assess the original goal and consider whether they should set a new goal of more than 500 books.
For this activity, students may read any book (whether it's from the school library, their personal collection, or the public library) and they may read in or out of school.
