April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Governor Bevin has Proclaimed April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

In 2016 there was a fifty-year record high peak in highway deaths in Kentucky.  Distracted Driving is the number one killer of teenagers in America. Year to date, Kentucky is three deaths ahead of this same period last year. According to the NTHSA, twenty five percent of these deaths were the result of Distracted Driving (many caused by the cell phone).

A new technology called LifeSaver-App.com has developed FREE technology that Stops Texting While Driving and allows the driver to be monitored by the parent/safety supervisor.

LifeSaver-App, in conjunction with others, (including the Kentucky Sheriffs Association) has set a BOLD GOAL of reducing Distracted Driving Deaths in Kentucky by 50% in the next five years.  Additionally, in working with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the goal is to make Kentucky the national leader in the reduction of Distracted Driving deaths this year.
